Final Fantasy XII - 14 - Nam-Yensa Sandsea

Overview: Unlike the Ogir-Yensa, you'll find your journey across the Nam-Yensa to take you across more open desert spaces than oil platforms. There is also a short Sidequest that can only be performed on your first journey through, so I will detail how to complete it here.

Nam-Yensa Sandsea/ Augur Hill
Enemies: Urutan-Yensa, Yensa, Bagoly
Treasure: The area might contain an Iron Helm, Chopper, and a Leather Gorget.
Guide: This map has an Urn with the location map for the Nam-Yensa, it's on the small island with two bridges. There's also a new enemy here, the Bagoly. These flightless bird-men drop Bent Staves, which sell for over a thousand gil each. There are two exits on the western edge of this map, but for the moment take the northern one.

Nam-Yensa Sandsea/ Withering Shores
Enemies: Urutan-Yensa, Danbania, Imdugud (Rare Game)
Treasure: The section beyond Zertinan Cavern might contain an Ancient Sword, Amber Armlet, and a Vega.
Guide: Three paths intersect here, but for the moment, head north. There is a portion of this map you cannot directly access. To get there, you have to travel through part of the Zertinan Caverns, a journey I would not yet recommend.

Nam-Yensa Sandsea/ The Urutan-Yensa Sea
Enemies: Urutan-Yensa, Alraune
Treasure: The area might contain a Chopper and Lambent Hat.
Guide: This is a large map with a mix of Alraune and Urutan-Yensa, so be careful if you're Chaining. To the north-east it connects with The Sandscale Bank, your current destination.

Nam-Yensa Sandsea/ The Sandscale Bank
Enemies: N/A
Guide: When you first arrive on this map, you'll see an Urutan-Yensa talking to a Sandsea Moogle. The Urutan flees when you approach. Talk to the Moogle and you'll activate a short sidequest. He tells you of an enemy that is threatening the Urutan-Yensa, and the promise of a reward. To find and slay this enemy, head south, through The Urutan-Yensa Sea, to the Withering Shores. Here, at the intersection of the three paths, you will find the Urutan-Eater, a Titantortoise, and a flock of Urutan-Yensa trying to kill it, and having little luck.
Start off by Blinding the Urutan-Eater, which makes the battle significantly easier. I would also recommend having a character Steal from it, as you can get a Turtle Shell, a valuable piece of Loot. If you have any Aero Motes, they inflict serious damage to the Urutan-Eater and all the Urutan-Yensa in the area. Otherwise, just wail on the turtle, or throw out a Quickening or two. Also, if you bought a Cypress Pole from the Bazaar, don't take it into battle, the Earth-Element property will heal the Urutan-Eater. When the Urutan-Eater gets down below 10 percent health, he'll only take a third of the damage, and this is a good time to use any Motes or Quickenings.
Sadly, after you defeat him, any remaining Urutan-Yensa will turn on you and attack. Now that the Urutan-Eater has fallen, return to The Sandscale Bank and talk to the Sandsea Moogle. He'll tell you that the Urutan-Yensa is looking for your reward in the Ogir-Yensa, so head east to Platform 2-Refinery and climb up the ramps. At the top, you'll see a small scene of the Urutan heading back to The Sandscale Bank with the Sandsea Moogle, so turn right around and head back. Back on The Sandscale Bank you'll see a cutscene, and afterwards, your reward will be waiting on the ground in front of the Save Crystal, a Bunch of Eskir Berries.
Once you're done with the Sidequest, head back to Augur Hill and take the southwest exit.

Nam-Yensa Sandsea/ Yellow Sands
Enemies: Urutan-Yensa, Bagoly, Axebeak, Yensa, Victanir (Trophy Game)
Treasure: The area might contain a Killer Bow.
Guide: The southern portion of this map has another entrance to the Zertinan Caverns and a good number of chests. The northern section is a raised platform that connects to the next area. There are also new Cockatrice like monsters here, but they pose little threat. They're useful though, they drop a new Gun, the Vega, that comes in handy soon.

Nam-Yensa Sandsea/ Demesne of the Sandqueen
Enemies: Urutan-Yensa, Yensa, Axebeak, Megabomb (Rare Game)
Treasure: The area might contain Iron Armor.
Guide: The northern platform here connects back to the Withering Shores, and on the western end there's a long pier that sticks out into the Sandsea. Typically it has a number of traps and chests, and is worth investigating. Head west to the next area.

Nam-Yensa Sandsea/ Trail of Fading Warmth
Enemies: Urutan-Yensa, Axebeak
Guide: You can (and should) head north from here to an optional side map that has a high number of Bagoly, or you can head west. At the western edge of the map is Dyce. He hasn't had much luck with the fishing, but his travelling companion has some words of wisdom: The Urutan-Yensa must know of a way to weaken the Avion that guards Raithwall's Tomb.

Nam-Yensa Sandsea/ Simoon Bluff
Enemies: Axebeak, Bagoly, Danbania, Bull Danbania, Wyvern
Treasure: The area might contain a Cypress Pole, Amber Armlet, Wizard's Staff, Windbreaker, and Foe: Flying Gambit.
Guide: Watch out for the clusters of traps near the entrance here. If needed, you should take two people out of your party so there's less of a chance they'll trigger a trap when passing near it. No Urutan-Yensa here, but a hell of a lot of birds. There are three chests on the far northern platform, and usually a number in the middle of the northernmost desert area. This is also a great place to get Bent Staves and Vegas from the Bagoly and Axebeaks.

Before you head into the next area I recommend you make some preparations. First, everyone on your party should have the Licenses to equip some kind of Gun or Bow, and you should have these on hand. The Vegas you can get from the Axebeaks work well, as well as Killer Bows you might have picked up in Lhusu Mines. Dyce sells ammunition and ranged weapons, so if you're short on firepower, get enough for your party. Also, it's helpful if everyone knows the Dark Spell. When you're ready, head into the next area. You'll be asked if you want to Save, and I recommend doing so.
