Overview: Well, those were some shocking developments. You are once more down in the Garamscythe Waterway, the prettiest sewer ever constructed. Now though, you have two new party members, and finally, you have access to the Gambits section. I recommend listening to Balthier if this is your first playthrough, Gambits can be a bit confusing at first. Once you feel your Gambits are in order, sally forth.
Treasure: No notable treasures here.
Garamscythe Waterway/ East Spur Stairs
Enemies: N/A
Guide: After your Gambit tutorial, check the bodies on the ground for a little cutscene, then I'd recommend saving again before heading on. Also, your new party members will have a lot of License Points to spend, so remember to use them.
Garamscythe Waterway/ East Waterway Control
Enemies: Dire Rat, Steeling
Guide: To the left of where you enter is a pot containing a map of the area, and probably a random chest next to it. After getting the map I recommend exploring the northwestern part of this map for additional chests, then heading south to the next area.
Garamscythe Waterway/ No. 11 Channel
Enemies: Steeling, Gigantoad
Guide: Check the far western dead ends for chests, aside from that, say hello to a new enemy, the Gigantoad. They're weak to Fire element, and you should take full advantage of that to finish them off quickly. Make sure to check the dead ends at the southern end of the map too.
Garamscythe Waterway/ East Sluice Control
Enemies: Imperial Swordsmen
Guide: Welp, how long could you really go without running into some Imperials? This is an easy fight, just wade in and kick some ass. Amalia has Dark Motes, which do damage to all enemies in range, and she usually manages to use at least one in the battle. After a cutscene, she joins as a guest. Balthier tells you just what that means: an NPC. Save your game once more, then continue on.
Garamscythe Waterway/ Southern Sluiceway
Enemies: Flan x4
Guide: Head into the area and say hello to boss fight number 2.
Strategy: Not a very taxing battle, since the difficulty is in the number of Flan. They're weak to Fire, and you would be well served to use it. In fact, putting one of your characters on a Gambit that only casts Fire would not be unwise. Other than that, watch out for them Curing each other. If you see one about to Cure an ally, hit the ally or caster with a Fire. And if Balthier still has his Gun equipped, switch him to a melee weapon, or set him to just Fire, because Guns do little to no
damage. After the battle, feel free to head back one screen and save before going forward.
Garamscythe Waterway/ West Sluice Control
Enemies: Gigantoad, Ghost, Garchimacera
Guide: Two new enemies show up here. The Ghost will appear as you cross a bridge, and the Garchimacera show up in a pack of three. All in all, not much of a problem. Head through here and exit at the northern end of the map.
Garamscythe Waterway/ No. 10 Channel
Enemies: Gigantoad, Ghost, Garchimacera
Guide: You're now on the useful side of this map finally. Head north and east, and again, check the dead ends for chests. In the middle you might hit a dense pocket of enemies, so watch out.
Garamscythe Waterway/ Central Waterway Control
Enemies: N/A
Guide: Make use of the Save Crystal, then I re
commend casting Protect on everyone and using the Save Crystal to replenish the spent MP. Then head north through the gate.
Garamscythe Waterway/ Overflow Cloaca
Enemies: Firemane
Guide: As soon as you enter the area, you're set upon by Firemane. Easily the most difficult Boss so far.
Strategy: If at all possible, try to fight Firemane in the water on either side of the main walkway. When he stands on the water, his strength weakens, and he constantly loses health. A major annoyance in this fight is his ability Bushfire, which hits everyone in the area, and can inflict Poison. Amalia will help with the healing a bit, she uses Potions with some frequency. Make sure to use an Antidote or Poisona if someone gets Poisoned. Heal up after Bushfire, then get back on the offensive.
As for damage dealing, stick to normal attacks. You won't have any Water Spells yet, and it's immune to any status effects you might be able to inflict at the moment.
Guide: After you defeat Firemane, watch the cutscenes!
